No doubt you’ve heard the old phrase “Less is more. Never is this more true than when it comes to horse training.
No make the matter complicated or confusing to you for your horse, use only the equipment and accessories that you consider absolutely necessary and keep their simple directives, clear and easy to understand.
If you are starting a green horse, of course, will start with short sessions of field work. Keep your requests to a minimum, make sure they are confusing your horse, and always always end on a positive note.
Paste the tasks that you completely understand and feel confident in their ability to execute. Remain calm and if you or the horse is showing signs of frustration, I immediately take a step back and redo something they both understood so as to be able to conclude the session with optimal success.
Remember that not every day will lead to progress. However, I will not digress. Make sure we’re not expecting too much too soon (either you or your horse). If you feel you have reached a plateau and can not do any progress with your horse, consider enlisting the help of a professional trainer. Remember though that not all instructors are experts (no matter what they say). Do a serious decision, careful and conscientious about who you hire to help with training, if there comes a point where you’re certain you can not do this on their own.
To start your horse, it is important that you have access to, or create a pen all year. Approximately 60 ‘diameter is a very good size. Work horse lunge line at first. It is best to move forward, clearly directing his energy toward its rear end / inward from the hip. You must have a lunge whip (6 ‘or so is a good length), so that you can give your horse a bit of a sting in back if not moving.
When moving forward to relax its stance, but keep your focus and energy in his hindquarters. If it stops or becomes in the unit forward. Use the lunge whip to reinforce its leadership when necessary.
Do not be afraid to give the horse a good shot at its rear end to make it move. A stern warning is far more effective than ten annoying little taps (faucets only teach your horse to ignore you).
Note that good slap in general all you need. Want to show your horse discipline necessary then leave it alone. This is the release of pressure that teaches, not the pain itself. Repeatedly causing any pain in his horse teaches him to fear you and you will not get the response and respect he needs to develop a partnership that is conducive to long-term learning and development.
To stop the horse, firmly say whoa ONCE and step ahead of him. He may stop or it can turn and go away. If it stops, praise him verbally. If the horse is not shy or nervous about its approach, this would be a good time to approach his shoulder in stride, look at ground like doing this (remember, you are a predator and does not want to put it on the edge) and give a gentle massage on the withers or shoulder. Then step and send him off in the opposite direction.
If the horse did not stop, but turned and went the other way, go with that and bring in the new direction. At the end you will get tired and want to stop, at which you can begin to associate the Whoa ‘word with the reward to stop and make some much needed air.
When the horse is in the line of thrust DO NOT try to get to stop yelling repeatedly, “Stop, stop!” or running in front of him waving his arms. Despite what some people seem to believe, in speech high noise and frenetic movement does not help to educate your horse.
When the horse is running, stopping and turning the pen around the line you can attach a lead rope and begin to strengthen their instructions with calm, clear guidelines. Films can always find help and information online. Even in rural areas, satellite internet connections allows you to quickly download to date and useful information about horse training of doctors respected.
